Well Its time to sit down and tell everyone a little about what is going on. Well lets see here. Where to start where to start? O yes I have been gainfully employed at CyberClick Marketing now for almost 4 months started a business KC Web Geeks, LLC., Partnered with a couple of companies, and managed to have a small social life. There are more plans in the works. There might even be another company being created. I can honestly say to much because I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag. I will keep everyone updated. Untill then a little humor.
As I was getting ready to pull out of my apartment complex there was a table with full brown bags sitting on a table. I had stopped because of traffic and like every moring I have my windows down. One of the two guys walkes over and says “good morning would you like free breakfast” I replied with a “sure?” I then asked them what it was for and they said it was because they could and it was random resident appriciation day. I said thank you and headed off to work. I sat down at my desk still a little suprise and opened my goodie bag. Inside was a bottle of Tropicana OJ, quaker cookies and cream granola bar, banana nut muffin and peach yoplait yogert. Not only was this a totally random nice gesture but all of the things in the bag are either my favorote type of that item or second favorite. With that in mind what was the last random thing like this to happen to you? Have you done anything random and nice like this lately?
I purchased a laptop a little less than a year ago. I will not mention the name but they do most of their sales online. Anyway I was forced to have vista installed. I was not all that to happy about that for starters. I opened the box turned it on and thus the setup began.
I made sure to turn off the windows update. A few months ago while I was volunteering at a youth camp I was using my laptop to do some work for them. They had a wireless signal however it was very prone to outages. For whatever reason windows update attempted to update itself eventhouhg the updater was turned off. I was unable to stop the update and i guess halfway through the updated I lost signal and the file was then corrupetd. I tried to update the computer a few days later once I was back home and on a more stable connection. It would not let me update it nor roll back to an earlier date with windows restore. So i just let it do its thing turned off the auto updater again.
A few weeks ago guess what it did AGAIN turned on the auto updater downloaded and then rebooted on me mid project. Thank goodness I did not loose anything. After it said it could not install the updates and then rolled itself back and then rebooted.
Once rebooted I tried to login that is where the fun begins. It attempted to login and then promptly told me the shell32.dll file was either missing or corrupt do i want to continue? I clicked yes, a few more prompts later I found myself logged out. By this point I was so pissed off I just left the darn thing sit for two weeks.
Now any computer geek would then reboot into safe mode with networking download a copy of a shell32.dll file reboot and bam we aer back in business. O NO vista will not allow this. I tried to reboot the darn thing into safe mode. So i jump on my trusty desktop open up google. To my suprise I find that in order to use the safe mode feature you must activate it in windows. WHAT THE ……. This would have been nice to know when I had a computer up and running so i could turn it on.
PLAN B. Now i get the oppertunity to go to my local computer geek store buy a converter that will allow me to plug my laptop hard drive into my desktop. I will then promptly scan for viruses and spyware. The only problem with this plan is finding a shell32dll file for windows vista
CURSE YOU MICROSOFT I VOW TO BUY A MAC AS MY NEXT MACHINE. I was actually planning on getting one this just give me more of an excuse and reason to do it I will keep you all updated.
Where to begin. As of the beginning of the month I was laid off. So I have started working on a few projects for both myself and for clients. Kcwebgeeks.com has been growing steadily and Kansascitybands.net is coming along nicely. I will be moving into a new apartment not to far from where I currently live at the end of the week. I’m still hunting for a job but not worrying about it to much. Camp Quality this summer was a total blast. I however miss the kids and everyone who made the week simply amazing.
More of the saga to come. I might even have some photos
Well As the summer gets started I am like always getting busier as the days roll past. Lots of new projects opportunities and experiences to explore. I will start with a brief recap of the projects that I have been working on.
KCWebGeeks.com is a side project a few friends of mine decided to come together and start a small web development company. We all had side projects and clients we do work for on the side. This project was to combine our knowledge, skill sets, and connections to help our clients to best of our abilities.
kansascitybands.net This is the flagship project. I have been working on the idea and the details of the project for the past 2 years. Now its starting to take shape and should be a very interesting to watch as it evolves.
Those two projects have kept me pretty busy.
Now comes the fun part. Camp Quality Northwest Missouri’s week long summer camp is just around the corner. Training is on the 17th of this month so equipment is being checked and double checked. Lots of neat things are going to be happening there this year. More news to come
After seeing this commercial on TV the other day I was moderately amused. Watch the video and for your own opinion before I tell you mine.
Seriously what kind of people do toy makers employ they are starting to get as bad as Disney.
In all seriousness I don’t think I would have wanted to play with this as a kid. O wait I lied how cool would it have been to shoot a giant snot rocket at your friends from a few feet away. Gotta love it.
I walked out of my apartment this morning and there it was a Volvo 1800. This is a very rare car. If you would like to read more about it you can read more about it here. Below you will find some photos of the car I took this morning.
I really was not sure what it was and decided to take a photo of it. I knew it was a Volvo for the simple reason it sad Volvo on the back.
The car got its claim to fame in a TV series called The Saint. The car in the series was a white 1800 driven by Simon Templar (Roger Moore).
This is the second car I have seen parked outside my apartment that you do not see often. The first car was a Ferrari that you can see from an older post titled And There It was .
Seeing these cars out there has been a real treat and I hope to continue to see these rare visions around Kansas City. If you have had any rare car experiences around please feel free to share your experiences.
Over the weekend the Northwest Bearcats swept the MIAA tournament. Both the mens and womens basketball teams played very well and took home the victory. The Kansas City star has two really good articles which I have links to below.
