Where to start where to start? O yes I have been gainfully employed at CyberClick Marketing now for almost 4 months started a business KC Web Geeks, LLC., Partnered with a couple of companies, and managed to have a small social life. There are more plans in the works. There might even be another company being created. I can honestly say to much because I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag. I will keep everyone updated. Untill then a little humor.

Where to begin. As of the beginning of the month I was laid off. So I have started working on a few projects for both myself and for clients. Kcwebgeeks.com has been growing steadily and Kansascitybands.net is coming along nicely. I will be moving into a new apartment not to far from where I currently live at the end of the week. I’m still hunting for a job but not worrying about it to much. Camp Quality this summer was a total blast. I however miss the kids and everyone who made the week simply amazing.

More of the saga to come. I might even have some photos

On Friday the Culture Club sponsored a pie in the face contest. We recruited managers to have whip cream pies thrown at them for charity. Each manager chose a charity they were supporting to help their cause. The manager with the most money overall would then get to give all the money to their charity of choice. I would first like to point out 96+ degree weather in direct sunlight makes for a very sticky smelly mess when it comes to pies made from heavy cream. The contest started at 10:30 and lasted to 1:30. The Culture Clubers took turns manning the booth collecting money and making pies. There were un-confirmed reports that pies were given out for free and someone even brought chocolate syrup to be used. At lunchtime meatball subs chips fruit and beer was served for lunch by the creative department. It really could not have been a better day. (it could have been a little cooler.) At 1:30 we took a company photo and then headed back in to get some work done.

All of this could have not come at a better time. PlattForm had earlier that week announced the acquisition of VentureDirect Worldwide, Inc. and Zuma, LLC. Read the press release — >

I am on a quest to find some photos of the pie contest as well as get the final total and to which charity the money will be going to.

MORE TO COME

We arrived to a vast sea of people at Longview lake ready to tug. It was pouring rain and the compitition was fierce. 11 PlattFormers tugged their hearts out at the Kansas City Corporate Challenge to take home the bronze. With that victory it pushed us to a final victory of 5th place overall in our division. This win was a great victory to a relatively small company that is young in the Kansas City Area. Congrats team on a job well done.

Ok after the last post about being a geek I said I would explain my job situation. Yes mom and dad I still have a job don’t worry. I wont be asking you for large sums of money this month. There is always next month however he he he . OK back to business. I guess really the best place to start any story is at the beginning. I was hired and started working at PlattForm in May 2006. I was hired as a Web Designer.

My role as a web designer was to design and developer client web sites, email marketing pieces, banners, etc. Three or so months after starting I was approached by a couple of managers to move over to the web master team. I agreed and moved over a few weeks later. My duties as a Web Master was very similar to that of the web designer however we only worked on internal sites. This role was geared more towards coding rather than designing. Which i seem to prefer.

I was enjoying my role as a Web Master quite well until one day we got called into a meeting with our boss. In the meeting we were told that we would be moving departments to programming and we would have new managers. It was a scary thought being a programmer I had disliked programming ever since college where I had failed miserably at programming classes. Our new title was now Web Engineer. With the move of the web master team the web design team would be loosing some of their duties. They would no longer be doing any coding. They would only be designing, where as the Web Engineers roles expanded to include coding of both internal and client sites and various other HTML based items.

The transition has been rough with all the new processes. We are slowly getting up to speed and here in a few months we should be one mean coding machine. AND WE ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER
