Friday October 27th was wacky hat and hair day. As the name states we were asked to wear a funny hat or style our hair in a crazy. Way. The web master team decided to go all out and travel back in time to the era of the FRO. Click here to see pictures of the interesting headgear the people of PlattForm Interactive proudly displayed.

Well needless to say there was more fun on Friday. As it was super fan Friday had its zany antics. They were offering tickets to todays chiefs game to anyone who would do anything crazy zany or just off the wall. At about 4:30 an all page came across the intercom system telling everyone to come to the front desk, and that we had a winner.

The person who we will not name(its not me) said he would do the following things: shave his head, chug a bottle of V8 and run around the building in his boxers. Well they shaved his head and it ended up being a sideways mohawk incidentally it looks like earmuffs minus the ear warmers. Watching them cut and shave the hair into this sculpted artwork was quite amusing. Once the chopping and shaving was done the unnamed loony then proceeded to chug a very large bottle of hot and spicy V8 i felt like hurling form him. As a true champion he managed to get it all down and keep it down.  The owner of the company then gave the winner the tickets, but told him that there would be boxers waiting here in a few days so he could run around the building. The catcher is that he would have to do it when it is  really cold and the boxers would be purchased from Priscilla’s adult store.

Well what can I say about this past week. It has been really interesting. This past week has been the first annual PlattForm Homecoming. There was no football game, but what we did have was a week of wacky dress up days and the crowning of our king and queen.

Monday was dress as your favorite era day.
Tuesday was pajama day. Wednesday was hat day
Thursday was Mix Match day where u can wear a mix of anything to work. and to end it all
Friday is Super Fan Friday where we will dress up in support of our favorite sports teams.

We even had a tail gate to come out and support all of the winners of the week for the various categories such as most likely to be called to the boss’s Office, Most likely to spend the night at PlattForm, and many more.

Lets see where to start o yes. I still love my job however with the rising price of gas (now $2.99/gal) its starting to wear on me. Rumor has it my team the web design team will be moving to a new part of the building because we have to many people for our small room, and they plan to add more. In the life category not to much going on same old stuff just different day. I finally put a new starter in my car so now I won’t have to worry about it my car will start or not. Thats about it really my girlfriend Stephanie and I are headed to Iowa for the weekend to visit the family. The trip should be fun I have not gotten to see my mom for quite some time now since Mom, Dad and brother Austin are living in Italy. Well that is it for now I promise to try to keep you all updated more. Have a great week.

OK where did I leave off o yes Well Like I had said earlier around the office its turned into a huge well it looks like the inside of a daycare or Dorm hall with all the poster and such everywhere. It started off simple and quiet around the office then the owner of the company decided to tell everyone that they are not working hard enough and thus the smear campaigns began. On Friday of last week the IT department candidates decided to pitch the idea to the owner of the company to let all the employees leave early while the Programming department decided to go hard core and stay despite the IT departments get out of work early card. Where to start well I guess it all starts when the head of a company decides that well he isn’t having any fun any more and his employees are working to hard. So he creates a committee that its only purpose is for them to make Plattform a funner place to work. (I CAN USE FUNNER DARN IT, IT’S MY BLOG) THE Culture Club was created. 

So it was decided that the way to join this culture club was if you wanted to join you must campaign. The activities have been very similar to a high school student council. However they have taken it to a new level…………

Well my first week at the new job has come to and end. It was quite well overwhelming stressful and the learning curve was very high. I managed to jump right in and come out pretty good. A little tired and looking back i’m rather impressed on how well I have done. The following is the recap of the week.

Total Drive Time 10 Hours back and forth to work

Biggest Achievement Learning everything in very little time. Everything being all the steps to get stuff done around there.

Biggest Annoyance Waiting. Sending something off and waiting hours on end to find out that there is something to be changed. ALSO clients who want the same thing changed many times knowing that the deadline is at close of business that day.

Work Atmosphere is great people are nice I can wear casual cloths big plus for me I can wear sandals

I’m sure there is a lot more to talk about but hey gonna go relax and head to bed at 10 pm on a friday.

O another PLUS I DONT WORK WEEKENDS AND MY SCHEDULE IS PREDICTABLE.

Well if you all didn’t know I got a new job. I am working as a web designer for a marketing and advertising company called Plattform. See Link to the right for their website. Today was my second day. So far it has been rather stressful and overwhelming. It’s all a good thing just getting used to the whole working 9-5 the long drive as well as all of the new tricks of the trade. Give me a week and I should have it all down. For those of you who are wondering If I am still working at Best Buy the answer is no. Some stuff happened and I decided that it was just a good time to get out and I didn’t need the stress. It was a great place to work but it was never a permanent thing. I will hopefully be able to get the pictures and such from my trip up very soon. 

I just don’t understand why when people go shopping they find the first person that is working and lash out at them. I don’t know if it was because of the gloomy weather or what, but man where the people grumpy. I had comments from your prices are too high to I guarantee I can find better quality service some where else. I would really like them to try to find better service. Many of the comments made by customers today were just uncalled for and even just rude. It’s not my fault they are stupid, it’s not the geek squads fault they broke their computer. I also think that customers feel that its my life’s purpose to piss them off and make them grumpy about spending their money on a computer that they feel they don’t need but the geek squad guys have told them it would cost just as much if not a little more to upgrade their old Windows 95 machine rather than buying a new one. O well that’s my little rant for the day. 

Well working in retail it never ceases to amaze me how stupid people really are.

10. Do you all sell computers? (Customer is standing looking at them)
9. Where are the iPods? (While looking at large sign that has a picture of an iPod on it)
8. Do you sell Dell Computers?
7. Do you take cash? (My Comment as long as it is in American currency:-D)
6. Is it a good thing when my computer monitor is smoking? (UM NO)
5. O MY Gosh, are those USB Cables really 32 dollars? (DUH we just mark things way high to get reactions like yours.)
4. What kind of deal can you cut me? (HOW ABOUT NOTHING) 

The Next few require a little more detail and imagination to understand the stupidity of people. 

3. I booted up my computer and I don’t see any picture. Me: is the monitor on? Lady: How do I tell? Me: Is there a small light turned on somewhere on the monitor? Lady: No Me: is it plugged into the wall? Lady: Yes Me: ok is the monitor plugged into the computer Lady: The computer well isn’t that the thing with the screen. Me: Is the tower plugged into the wall and is the keyboard and mouse plugged into the tower Lady: The what? …. 20 minutes later we finally come to figure out that she has not even open the box that the tower came in and she just sat up the monitor and plugged it in and pushed the button on the monitor to turn on the computer. What she had been doing for years with her old computer was leaving it on all the time and she would turn on and off the monitor to “boot up” the computer. 

2.  A family walks in and it is apparent that the only person who speaks English is the 12-14 year old daughter. They began to converse in Spanish and I walk up to them and ask them if there is anything I can help them with. The girl then proceeds to ask if we sell wood. I was a little confused and asked what will you be using it for? She answers for building a deck. Remember at the time I was working at Office Max an electronics and office supply store. I told her that she needed to go to Home Depot that was directly across the street. 

And the Number 1 Smart Question is………… 

1. Do I have to worry about my cat eating the mouse? Her son said no mom the mouse is how you control the computer and she was like oh ok. A little while longer as I am explaining to them a few more things u could tell she was still thinking about the mouse that was some where in the computer to control it. As I mention and point to the DVD-ROM drive she points to the DVD-ROM drive and asks if that’s how u feed the little bugger. 

 Do I really need to same more? God Bless those people who unwillingly say stupid things that make my life a little more amusing.
